Mead making courses
We run courses teaching the art of mead making. Over the session you will learn the process of brewing mead, learn about the different types of mead from around the world, mead through the ages. We will answer important questions like; what on earth is a Braggot, Melomel, Rhodomel, Capsimel or Cyser? And of course, we will drink plenty of mead.
These sessions are run in groups of 8, Please do get in touch about the next available session.
Typical mead course:
10:00am: Welcome with locally roasted coffee or tea on arrival, registration and orientation.
10:30 - 12:30: All about mead. Mead through the ages, history, cultural significance. Ingredients and basic mead making process.
12:30 - 13:00: lunch: Wood-fired pizzas, or an indoor option for wet weather.
13:00 - 14:15: Mead making: From start to finish, with ingredients and bottles provided.
14:15 - 15:30: Honey and mead tasting.
15:30 - 16:00: Afternoon Tea and Coffee, with additional questions.
16:00 - 16:30: A wobbly departure.
Two weeks later: collection of your personal mead at the meadery. Tasting and appraisal. (Delivery of your mead can be arranged).
Price: £80 per person for a full day including refreshments, lunch, mead tasting and 4.5 litres of your own mead per person.
Maximum of 8 people per day.
